"Charles Cooper"

"On 1st June 1866, the wooden hulled American ship CHARLES COOPER set sail from Philadelphia. Bound for San Francisco with a cargo of coal, she probably ran into trouble rounding Cape Horn, but was able to limp into Stanley Harbour, Falkland Islands on September 25th, never to leave again. Condemned as unseaworthy, the CHARLES COOPER sold for use as a storage hulk. She was stripped and later grounded in front of Ross Road where she served as a warehouse until the 1960's.".
