Question & Answer

Question:.....If I order a report how will I receive it ?.

Answer:.....All reports are sent by e-mail attachment. Larger files may be split down into smaller files proir to sending. This makes things easier to load at your end. If you prefer the larger file, arrangements can be made for you to download direct from this end.

Question:.....Do your lists have longitude and latitude ?.

Answer:.....Some records do and some do not. If they do they could be in either format as shown in next Q & A. If no longitude and Latitude is shown then there is a possibilty a land mark or other point of reference may be given. Some records have very little data in regard to position as it is simply not known or stated in the research.

Question:.....What format is the Longitude and Latitude in ?.

Answer:.....Both Deg's, Mins and Sec's and Deg's 100/100. As copied from the research material.

Question:.....Can you guarantee longitude and latitude positions ?.

Answer:.....No. I have not visited the wrecks listed and have relied solely on information given in the research. I do receive reports from divers on co-ordinates and/or position markers, these are added or updated when required.

Question:.....Do you do contracted work ?.

Answer:.....Certainly, if it is line with current operations. ie. the compiling of data, the ability to search for data and the orderly storage of such information. Also available is file transfer and a web cam link.

Question:.....What sort of information do I receive in the wreck report ?.

Answer:.....You get a copy of what I currently have on the Database. However, not knowing exactly what you want I think it fair to say the information may exceed your expectations or, it may not reach it. As stated before, an e-mail, in most cases, puts things into perspective.

Question:.....What do you mean by collated ?.

Answer:.....Collated data is the collection of data over time that is related to the record, no matter how small that information might be, and the updating of that record to form a more complete picture on the history of the vessel.

Question:.....What do you mean by Fully Relational ?.

Answer:.....The ability to search any field, be it by date, nationality, vessel type, Longitude, latitude, cargo, location etc; etc or any combination of the above to find an answer.

Question:.....What is the likleyhood of getting duplicate entries ?.

Answer:.....The first thing that has to be said is that this registry does not enter bulk data. Each update or new entry is cross checked against existing entries on the database. When a duplicate entry is found it is removed or cross linked. e.g. the English way of spelling and the Russian way can involve the use of the letter i or y. for the same vessel. One of them will be removed.

Question:.....Will you ever put the database on line ?.

Answer:.....I do not think so. It is probably too large. I am however considering access to the database at this end as a future possibility.

Question:.....What if I am not sure which report I want or which report would contain the information I am looking for ?.

Answer:.....Then please e-mail for clarification. It just takes a moment and saves a lot of agravation later on.

Question:.....What about treasure ships, do they only come in a specific report ?.

Answer:.....Reports on treasure ships are listed for those who specifically want treasure ships. The rest of the time treasure ships are listed as they appear in the regular reports along with other vessels for a specific area.

Question:.....What if I do not see the list which I prefer ?.

Answer:.....Then one of two things are in play, first the list does not have at least 20 records in it and secondly, it has not been made up or it forms part of a larger list.

Question:.....Do you have cargo lists for each vessel ?.

Answer:.....The quick answer is no. Don't forget many vessels were not carrying a cargo when lost. I have a few vessels that show a fairly good cargo list. Others show the cargo in general terms, ie, timber, iron ore, containers, scap metal or grain etc. Others have no mention on cargo at all. This of course does not mean it was not carrying anything, just that I currently do not know what it was. If cargo's are what you are after it would be wise to check with me first.
